Alfa Romeo recalls 417 vehicles in Japan over lane assist software issue
Alfa Romeo recalls 417 Stelvio and Giulia vehicles in Japan due to a dashboard software issue affecting lane-keeping assist warning sounds. Free updates available.
Alfa Romeo is recalling 417 vehicles in Japan, including Stelvio crossovers and Giulia sedans imported between December 2024 and October 2025. Stellantis Japan has identified a software issue in the dashboard that affects the lane-keeping assist system.
The problem lies in the warning sound, which may fail to activate when the driver disengages the system—for instance, by releasing the steering wheel. This violates local safety standards, as the system must alert the driver when the function stops.
The recall covers 127 Stelvios and 290 Giulias. According to the manufacturer, no instances of the defect have been reported in real-world use, and there have been no accidents. Still, the update is being carried out as a precaution: all affected vehicles will have their instrument cluster control software rewritten to a modified version that meets safety requirements.
For Alfa Romeo, the Japanese market remains a key foothold, and such campaigns highlight the brand's commitment to maintaining high customer trust. Against the backdrop of tightening safety regulations and cars' growing reliance on electronic systems, the stability of driver-assist features is becoming increasingly critical.
The update is free, and owners have been notified to visit their dealers.
