Toyota leads global auto sales 2025: RAV4 tops, Corolla and Model Y follow
Toyota retakes the lead in global auto sales 2025: RAV4 No.1, Corolla second, Tesla Model Y third. SUVs and pickups dominate in rankings across 162 countries.
Toyota is back in front of global auto sales in 2025. According to analytics firm Focus2move, the January–September leaders by model are the Toyota RAV4, Corolla, and Tesla Model Y. This trio has set the pace on the world stage for several years, a pattern that speaks to their broad, durable appeal.
The ranking shakes out as follows: the Toyota RAV4 added 1.5% over last year to hold a comfortable lead. Second is the Corolla, with sales down 8.2%. Third, the Tesla Model Y slipped 11.2% yet remains the world’s best-selling electric car. The modest gain for the RAV4 alongside declines for the Corolla and Model Y keeps the hierarchy intact.
Rounding out the top ten are the Ford F-Series (+12%), Honda CR-V (+0.5%), Chevrolet Silverado (+2.8%), Toyota Camry (+11.9%), Hyundai Tucson (+3.4%), Toyota Hilux (+0.8%), and Kia Sportage (+0.8%). The mix underlines how mainstream SUVs and pickups continue to shape the upper tier across markets.
Researchers noted that the analysis covered 162 countries and included both passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.
