Peugeot has expanded the engine lineup for its 208 and 2008 models with the introduction of a new 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 100 horsepower (74 kW). This unit is paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

The Peugeot 208 Turbo 100 starts at €24,480, with a claimed fuel consumption of 5.1 liters per 100 kilometers. The 2008 crossover with the same engine costs €4,500 more, and its official consumption reaches 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers.

As part of the update, the timing mechanism has been switched from a belt to a maintenance-free chain. The cylinder head, pistons, intake system, throttle valve, and thermal regulation system have also been refined.

Both models are among the most fuel-efficient vehicles in their class with gasoline engines, targeting buyers who value a balance between performance and fuel economy. This refresh aims to boost the competitiveness of the 208 and 2008 in the European market.
