Dacia Spacer 4x4 estate: hybrid and all-wheel-drive features
Dacia Spacer 4x4 estate with hybrid powertrain, 150 hp, and off-road capability. Expected debut in 2026. Learn about its features and rivals.
Dacia is putting the final touches on testing for its new estate car, which preliminary reports suggest will be named the Spacer. Spy shots have confirmed a key feature of the model: the availability of a four-wheel-drive version.
The prototype was spotted during road tests alongside the Dacia Duster 4x4, indicating the use of a shared technical platform. The Spacer will feature a hybrid powertrain combining a 1.2-litre turbocharged TCe engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Total output is expected to be around 150 horsepower.
The all-wheel-drive system is implemented via an electric motor on the rear axle, powered by a 0.84 kWh battery. The internal combustion engine is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission, while the rear electric motor has its own two-speed gearbox.
Thanks to its electrification, the model is set to qualify for ECO status and could also be offered with an LPG-compatible version. The official debut is anticipated in the second half of 2026.
The launch of the Spacer 4x4 will allow Dacia to carve out a niche for practical estates with off-road capability. This move is likely to put pressure on rivals like the Skoda Octavia Combi and other models in the segment by offering a more affordable alternative with enhanced off-tarmac potential.
