For over two decades, BMW has been a longstanding partner of Art Basel. To mark the centenary of the artist's birth, the company is presenting the 1986 BMW 635CSi art car by Robert Rauschenberg. As part of the global BMW Art Car tour, Rauschenberg's iconic vehicle will be displayed in Asia for the first time.

Rauschenberg transformed this sports car into a collage blending art history, photography, and everyday culture. He was the first to incorporate works by other artists onto his car, using silkscreen prints of pieces from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection in New York.

In honor of Art Basel Hong Kong 2026, BMW will open a special lounge accessible to visitors throughout the exhibition. The space will serve as the central venue for presenting Robert Rauschenberg's BMW Art Car, alongside an exhibition of his works. The centerpiece will be a copy of "Automobile Tire Print," a large-scale 1953 piece by the artist that explores movement, process, and visual traces.
