Li Auto MEGA recall sees high completion rate for cooling system fix
Li Auto has completed over 97.5% of repairs in its MEGA recall, addressing coolant issues that could cause leaks or power loss. Learn about the safety campaign and remaining steps.
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Li Auto has reported significant progress in its recall campaign for the MEGA model. According to the company, over 97.5% of all component replacement work has been completed to date. The recall affects 11,411 Li Auto MEGA vehicles from the 2024 model year.
So far, 11,128 vehicles have undergone the replacement, while approximately 283 cars are still awaiting service. The recall was prompted by an issue with the cooling system. The manufacturer discovered that the coolant in some vehicles lacks sufficient anti-corrosion properties. Under certain conditions, this can lead to corrosion of aluminum components in the battery cooling system and the front electric motor controller.
This could result in coolant leaks, warning signals on the dashboard, power limitations, or even an inability to start the vehicle. In rare cases, the problem may cause battery overheating and pose a risk of thermal runaway. As part of the service campaign, dealers are replacing the coolant, traction battery, and front electric motor controller free of charge.
Li Auto is also urging owners who haven't yet completed the procedure to visit a service center as soon as possible. The rapid pace of the recall campaign highlights how seriously Chinese manufacturers take safety concerns. For the fast-growing EV market, promptly addressing such issues has become crucial for maintaining customer trust.
