Hyundai has announced a major expansion of its digital interior themes created in collaboration with Pokemon. The new personalization features will become available for a range of models through over-the-air updates.

Pokemon Comes to Hyundai Vehicles

Initially, these themed interfaces were only available on flagship models, but the company is now expanding the list of supported vehicles. Drivers will be able to choose designs featuring characters like Pikachu and Ditto.

This goes beyond mere background images. The themes include unique dashboard graphics, startup animations, navigation displays, and color schemes that transform the interior's feel.

Updates will be rolled out in phases throughout 2026. The models set to receive them include the Tucson, Santa Fe, IONIQ 5, Grandeur, Sonata, and Kona.

Installation requires a system with a 12.3-inch display and registration of the vehicle in Hyundai's branded app. The themes will be accessible through Hyundai's digital services store.

Betting on Software-Defined Vehicles

Expanding these features is part of Hyundai's strategy to transition toward the Software-Defined Vehicle concept. The company is emphasizing digital services and the ability to update vehicles without a service center visit.

In practice, this means cars are gradually evolving not just as transportation, but as personalized digital spaces that owners can tailor to their preferences.
