Get the first look at Volkswagen's new ID.Polo and electric GTI, featuring updated design, 223 horsepower, and a 275-mile range on the MEB+ platform.
Volkswagen is preparing to unveil the new ID.Polo and its sporty GTI variant, but first images of the model have already surfaced online ahead of the official debut. Based on the photos, the cars appear nearly ready for market launch.
Design: Familiar Silhouette, New Philosophy
The electric ID.Polo retains the classic traits of its gasoline counterpart, aligning with Volkswagen's strategy to make EVs visually familiar to buyers. That said, the model features an updated front end, lighting, and smoother body lines.
The GTI version stands out with signature red accents, a sporty grille, and new wheels, though some elements, like plastic trim pieces, have raised questions.
Tech: The First Electric GTI

The ID.Polo GTI will mark the brand's first fully electric GTI. It will be equipped with a front-mounted electric motor delivering 223 horsepower and a limited-slip differential for improved handling.
Built on the MEB+ platform, the model comes with a 52 kWh battery, offering a range of around 275 miles (approximately 440 km). The base ID.Polo will feature a smaller 37 kWh battery.
Volkswagen's Strategy
The new ID.Polo could become one of Volkswagen's key electric vehicles in the mass market segment. The company is betting on a blend of familiar design and modern technology to attract a broad audience.
The launch of an electric GTI also signals that the brand aims to preserve its sporty DNA even in the era of electrification.
