Michelin's new summer tires for electric vehicles boost efficiency and handling
Michelin introduces Primacy 5 Energy and Pilot Sport 5 Energy tires for EVs, offering up to 10% range extension, reduced braking distances, and enhanced wear resistance.
Michelin has launched two new summer tires designed specifically for electric vehicles: the Primacy 5 Energy and the Pilot Sport 5 Energy. These tires are engineered to meet the unique demands of EVs, focusing on efficiency and handling.
The Primacy 5 Energy model features minimal rolling resistance, which can extend an electric vehicle's range by up to 10%, equating to roughly 70 kilometers. It also enhances fuel economy for internal combustion engine vehicles by as much as 6%.
According to the company, these tires offer superior wear resistance compared to competitors and reduce braking distances by up to 8%, whether on new or worn treads. This performance is achieved through new elastomers, resins, and tread design.
The second model, the Pilot Sport 5 Energy, targets more dynamic driving while maintaining high efficiency and improving braking performance on both dry and wet surfaces.
