Kia has unveiled an ambitious plan to build a production hub for PBV models at the new EVO Plant complex in Hwaseong. The site will comprise two factories—East and West—plus a conversion center. The company cites total investment at approximately 4 trillion won, with the complex spanning 30,000 square meters.

EVO Plant East is already up and running and can produce up to 100,000 PV5 vehicles a year, covering passenger versions, cargo variants, and WAV models designed to transport people with limited mobility. EVO Plant West is scheduled to come online in 2027, with capacity for 150,000 large PBVs, including the PV7.

To raise efficiency, the project integrates AGV systems and E-FOREST technologies, reduces the carbon impact in paint processes, and sets up assembly lines that can build different PBV types at the same time. A dedicated 63,000-square-meter conversion center will develop special versions of the PV5 and subsequent models, including open platforms, vans, and campers. The setup points to a modular approach that should resonate with fleet buyers looking for flexibility without compromising throughput.

Overall, the project strengthens Kia’s footing in commercial electric vehicles and is partially geared toward global demand—an angle that matters to companies weighing which vehicle will best suit their business.
