BMW Group South Africa has unveiled a unique take on its flagship sedan — the M760e xDrive Gary Player Signature Edition. Commissioned by BMW Individual Manufaktur, the car honors the 90th birthday of South African golfing icon Gary Player, widely known as the Black Knight, and it leans into the brand’s made-to-measure craftsmanship. The two-tone finish pairs Black Sapphire with Dravit Grey, and his personal emblem appears on the body pillars. Inside, a two-shade leather cabin is punctuated by embroidered crests and Player’s engraved autograph. The door sills carry an inscription conveying his belief that the more he trained, the more fortune tended to follow — details that feel cohesive rather than showy. The sedan uses a 571-hp hybrid powertrain and reaches 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. It will be offered at a Strauss & Co auction, with proceeds directed to the Gary and Vivienne Player Foundation. As a showcase piece, it should draw crowds at motor shows and underscores BMW’s bespoke approach to building cars heading into 2025.
