Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups are set to receive an upgraded version of the popular turbocharged 2.7-liter gasoline engine from the TurboMax family in the future.

The modifications will deliver a significant boost in power and torque compared to current figures of 310 horsepower and 580 Nm, though exact gains have not been disclosed.

It remains unclear whether the latest TurboMax engine will debut with the 2027 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon or if its release will be pushed to the 2028 model year.

Notably, the increased power will also be available for TurboMax engines in next-generation GM full-size pickups, including the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500.
