Ford has recently filed two patents showcasing different power window control systems. One proposes a system that can predict weather conditions at a vehicle's potential locations and automatically close windows to keep rain, dust, or pollen out of the cabin. Another patent describes a system that simply lowers all windows by the same distance.

Now, Ford has published a new patent for a power window control system that could also be used in future Ford vehicles. This system aims to enhance the one-touch window lowering feature found in many modern cars, adapting it based on what's happening around the vehicle.

For instance, the system could detect precipitation and suggest the driver lower the window only slightly. Similarly, it would respond upon detecting a stranger near the car.

As Ford notes in the patent, the one-touch up/down feature is quite convenient, but there are times when it's not ideal. This observation served as the inspiration for refining the idea.
