Geely shows plug-in hybrid sedan and SUV in Australia to test interest
Geely presented the Emgrand EM-i sedan and M9 SUV at the Melbourne auto show to gauge Australian interest in these plug-in hybrid models, not yet confirmed for local launch.
At the Melbourne auto show, Geely unveiled two new plug-in hybrid models to gauge Australian market interest in future offerings.
The duo consists of the mid-size Emgrand EM-i sedan and the large six-seat M9 SUV. Both are already on sale in China, where they're marketed as the Starshine 6 and Galaxy M9 respectively.
Ashur Varde, Geely's Australian product manager, told journalists at the event that the brand is considering launching these models locally depending on consumer reception.
While the Corolla-sized Emgrand is sold overseas with two gasoline engine options, Varde noted that the version proposed for Australia has undergone significant changes and features Geely's EM-i hybrid technology.
The Australian representative also emphasized that neither the Geely Emgrand EM-i sedan nor the M9 crossover has been officially confirmed for the local market at this stage.
