A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Audi in the United States over faulty door locks in several models. The complaint alleges the issue has been present since 2019 and affects vehicles up to the 2026 model year.

According to the lawsuit, the locks can malfunction, causing doors to fail to open or close properly. This creates situations where drivers or passengers could be trapped inside or unable to secure the vehicle. The filing also highlights a safety risk in accidents, as a faulty mechanism could hinder escape. Furthermore, non-functional locks increase the likelihood of theft.

Plaintiffs claim the company was aware of the problem and issued service bulletins, yet continued to market the cars as safe. The suit references at least eight such technical notices. Some complaints involve brand-new vehicles; in one instance, a malfunction occurred immediately after purchase, resulting in a door locking with a child inside.
