BMW X5 leads as top American-made vehicle in new rankings
Discover why the BMW X5 is crowned the best American-made vehicle, with top performers like Chevrolet Corvette and Tesla Model Y also highlighted.
A recent study has crowned the premium luxury crossover BMW X5 as the best American-made vehicle. Although BMW is a German brand, this particular model is assembled at the company's plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, qualifying it for the list of U.S.-built cars.
Experts highlighted the BMW X5's excellent performance and comfort, reinforcing the view held by many car enthusiasts who praise German automotive quality, even when the vehicles are assembled across the Atlantic.
While the BMW X5 received the highest score from Consumer Reports among American-made vehicles, its lead over competitors was narrow. Other top performers include the iconic Chevrolet C8 Corvette, manufactured at the General Motors plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, which earned the highest rating among American brands. The Ford F-150 pickup and the Tesla Model Y electric SUV also ranked highly.
Japanese brands were well-represented too. The Honda Passport SUV (made in Alabama) and Ridgeline pickup, along with the Accord hybrid (Ohio) and Civic (Indiana), received strong ratings. Toyota models also scored well, including the Camry sedan (Kentucky) and the Grand Highlander SUV (Indiana).
