The Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) reports that insurance claims data on stolen 2022–2024 model-year vehicles show the likelihood of a claim for the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is 39 times higher than for the average car. For the standard Chevrolet Camaro, the odds of filing a theft-related claim are about 13 times the norm. The numbers are stark and speak for themselves.

Several factors draw thieves to the nameplate. The Camaro ZL1’s powerful engine delivers serious pace, giving offenders a fast exit after a crime. On top of that, its costly equipment and high-grade components make the car attractive whether it is resold intact or dismantled for parts. Taken together, that combination makes the Camaro a tempting target for thieves in the United States.

The spike in premiums is most pronounced in regions with high rates of vehicle crime. Among U.S. states, California, Tennessee, and Texas stand out with the highest auto theft numbers. In those markets, owners of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and other popular models are forced to significantly increase their annual insurance outlays.
