Jetour expands T1 and T2 lineup with plug-in hybrid versions in South Africa
Jetour introduces PHEV versions of T1 and T2 in South Africa, offering eco-friendly mobility with reduced fuel costs and extended ranges up to 1,200 km.
The Jetour T1 and T2 are among the top five best-selling Chinese passenger cars in South Africa. In March 2026, sales figures for these models helped the Chinese brand break into the top ten best-selling automotive brands in the country.
Now, Jetour has expanded its T1 and T2 lineup in the local market with plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) versions. This was announced by Nick Campbell, Vice President of Jetour SA.
Campbell explained that introducing PHEV models is a key strategic move for Jetour as the company continues to balance eco-friendly mobility with meaningful value for users. He added that PHEVs offer real practical benefits by reducing fuel consumption and helping users cut daily operating costs.
The T1 PHEV starts at 689,900 rand, which is 30,000 rand more than the flagship 2.0T Odyssey Dark Night petrol version. Standard equipment includes a home AC charging unit. The T1 PHEV's 1.5-liter engine, paired with an 18.4 kWh battery, delivers a combined system output of 250 kW and 530 N·m of torque. Jetour claims an electric-only range of 100 km and a total range of 1,200 km.
The T2 PHEV starts at 779,900 rand, 75,000 rand more than the 2.0T Odyssey Dark Night version. It also comes standard with a home AC charging unit. The new flagship T2's 1.5-liter hybrid powertrain produces 265 kW and 610 N·m of torque.
The T2's hybrid system also uses an 18.4 kWh battery, but its claimed electric-only range is slightly lower than the T1 PHEV's at 90 km. The T2 PHEV's mixed-cycle range matches that of the T1 PHEV.
