Ford’s midsize electric pickup: design hints, RWD, 2027 build, $30k target
Ford’s midsize electric pickup nears reality: aero clay-model hints, road-testing, RWD four-door with LFP batteries, 2027 Louisville build, target price $30,000.
Ford continues to develop its new midsize electric pickup, and a possible hint at its styling has surfaced online. During the presentation of the company’s new headquarters, a series of images included what appeared to be a clay model of a pickup. The mockup shows a steeply raked windshield, a flowing roofline, widened fenders, and a distinct kick-up near the front door; a headlamp buck was positioned nearby. Taken together, these cues lean toward aero efficiency and a cleaner silhouette rather than boxy truck orthodoxy—an approach that usually pays off in range and refinement.
Officially, Ford has not confirmed that the model in the images belongs to the forthcoming electric pickup, so the sighting is being treated cautiously. Up to now, the brand has shared only a single teaser that revealed a curved, aerodynamic surface without concrete details—more a mood than a blueprint, keeping room for the design to evolve.
According to recent information, the prototype has already reached road-testing. Series production is planned for 2027 at Louisville Assembly. The model is set to use LFP batteries sourced from BlueOval Battery Park Michigan, feature rear-wheel drive, and come with a four-door body style. A targeted starting price of about $30,000 would place it squarely in the hunt within the electric segment, especially if execution matches the ambition.
