Nissan unveiled two new SUV concepts at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show: an urban hybrid crossover and the Terrano PHEV off-roader. Both models will enter production within a year and form the cornerstone of the brand’s new strategy for the Chinese market.
The showcased concepts split into two segments: a city crossover for daily use and the Terrano SUV, which focuses on off-road capability. Both vehicles are designed to meet Chinese market demands and target mass-market buyers.

Both models use PHEV hybrid powertrains combining internal combustion engines with electric motors. Detailed specifications have not yet been released, but the emphasis is on balancing power, efficiency, and versatility.

Meanwhile, Nissan is already promoting the NX8 model, which is available in both electric and hybrid versions. The electric variant uses an 800-volt architecture with fast charging up to 463 kW, enabling a 300 km range gain in just 6 minutes.

This new phase for the company marks the start of what it calls the "Year of New Energy SUVs," highlighting a shift in priorities toward hybrids and electric vehicles. The main competitors will be Chinese brands like BYD and Xpeng, which are already aggressively expanding their hybrid and electric SUV lineups.
