General Motors has stopped taking orders for the electrochromic roof on the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X coupes. This option, previously priced at $3,000 to $3,500, allowed the glass panel's tint to be changed at the push of a button.

The roof featured three transparency settings, helping to control cabin brightness. It was a removable targa-style panel integrated into a carbon-fiber structure. However, it was heavier than the standard roof and required complex wiring, making it incompatible with other Corvette versions.

The decision came down to supply constraints for components. The updated order guide lists the option as unavailable, and it's not yet clear if this is a temporary move.

Alternatives include a standard painted roof and a transparent removable panel priced at $2,350. Meanwhile, GM is also offering a new Stars & Steel Limited Edition package for $9,995, featuring American flag-themed trim, red brake calipers, and unique interior details. Only 250 of these cars will be built.
