Hyundai Motor America has announced that the 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5 has been named "Best Electric Vehicle" at the inaugural CarGurus Confidence Awards.

The newly launched program spotlights new cars that best align with the priorities of modern buyers. The IONIQ 5 was recognized for making EV ownership more intuitive, dependable, and accessible.

According to David Undercoffler, head of consumer insights at CarGurus, the award isn't about having the biggest battery or the quickest acceleration. What matters, he explained, is an EV that removes everyday friction. Tested against that philosophy, the IONIQ 5 proved to be the outright winner, delivering the right experience regardless of budget, driving needs, charging habits, or previous EV ownership.
