GWM is preparing to launch the Ora 5 in Australia. Deliveries of the electric version will begin in June, with a starting price of AU$33,990 (US$24,558) including on-road costs.

The model replaces the electric Ora hatchback, but the lineup could expand. New certification documents reveal a hybrid powertrain with a 1.5-liter turbo engine, producing 164 kW and 476 Nm, with a claimed fuel consumption of 5.1 L/100 km on the WLTC cycle.

The electric Ora 5 has already been confirmed for Australia. It features a single front-mounted motor with 150 kW and 260 Nm. The documents also list a version with an electric powertrain and reduced ground clearance, with a height of 1559 mm and a clearance of 135 mm, making it closer to a hatchback.

GWM had previously ruled out a gasoline-powered Ora 5 for Australia. A plug-in hybrid has also been shown in China, but its local prospects remain unconfirmed.

Ora was originally an electric-only brand, but with the Ora 5, GWM is broadening its powertrain choices. Among city electric cars, the model could become more flexible thanks to future hybrid variants.
