Tesla Model Y Performance trades Track Mode for daily drivability
Tesla overhauls the Model Y Performance with adaptive dampers, 81‑kWh battery and 510 hp. 0–60 in 3.2s, calmer ride, upgraded brakes and 490 km range.
Tesla has overhauled the Model Y Performance, shifting the emphasis from track-day rigidity to everyday handling and comfort. Track Mode and the circuit-focused calibrations are gone, replaced by a more mature, road-first character. A new 81‑kWh battery, revised electronics, and a dual‑motor setup deliver 510 hp, sending the crossover to 60 mph in about 3.2 seconds.
The headline change is a set of adaptive dampers and a retuned suspension that soften the ride while keeping the car composed on winding roads. The brakes have been upgraded, and the front seats now offer more pronounced lateral support. Inside, there’s a larger 16‑inch display, three drive modes, and stability control that steps in less aggressively. It’s a thoughtful recalibration aimed at usable speed and confidence, rather than chasing lap times.

Outside, the model wears a more assertive body kit, a reworked diffuser, and aero elements that trim the drag coefficient to 0.235. Estimated range is about 490 km.
