Leapmotor B05 offers up to 482 km range, 174 kW fast charging, and a starting price of €22,800 in Europe. Discover the new compact EV from China's rising automaker.

Leapmotor is pressing ahead with its European expansion and has started taking orders for the new electric B05. The B05 enters one of the most hotly contested segments and taps into the familiar Chinese brand formula: long range, generous equipment, and competitive pricing. The starting price is €22,800, or about $24,800.

Two trim levels are available — Pro and Pro+ — along with two battery options, both LFP. The base 56.2 kWh pack delivers up to 401 km on the WLTP cycle, while the larger 67.1 kWh unit stretches to 482 km.

All versions share the same powertrain: a rear-mounted electric motor putting out 160 kW (218 hp) and 240 Nm. The sprint to 100 km/h takes 6.7 seconds — pretty peppy for a compact family EV.

Charging is a standout feature. The Leapmotor B05 supports DC fast charging up to 174 kW, and under ideal conditions it can go from 30 to 80% in about 17 minutes.

Inside, the cabin has a high-tech feel. The driver faces an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen with 2.5K resolution. Features include eco-leather upholstery, heated front seats, a panoramic roof with an electric sunshade, and rear seats with backrest angle adjustment up to 27 degrees. Practical touches include 25 storage compartments inside, and cargo volume grows to 1,400 liters with the rear seats folded.

Safety kit includes seven airbags (including a center one) and 21 driver assistance systems. The system uses 14 cameras and sensors to enable Level 2 assistance features. Leapmotor expects a five-star Euro NCAP rating by the end of 2026.

For Europe, the B05 represents another wave of pressure from Chinese EVs. With a starting price of €22,800, it delivers range, power, and features that will push established brands to rethink their price tags.
