BMW M boss Franciscus van Meel teases a road car with yellow LED lights inspired by the M Hybrid V8 racer. The upcoming model, possibly a new M3, will feature this racing DNA from 2026.

BMW M boss Franciscus van Meel has shared a teaser of an upcoming road car on social media. The image shows a light signature with yellow LED elements that echo the BMW M Hybrid V8 race car.

According to van Meel, the yellow LEDs are part of BMW's racing DNA and will soon appear on production cars. Currently, this feature is found on road-going M models with CS and CSL badges. The teaser depicts a future car with vertical headlight layout and yellow accents in a design close to the new i3 and iX3, as well as next-generation 3 Series prototypes.

The author suggests this could be a new generation BMW M3. However, BMW has not officially revealed whether the shown car will be electric or combustion-powered. The article also mentions a rumor about a possible new powertrain: a spy video showed a gasoline M3 prototype sounding unusually deep, sparking speculation about a V8. No confirmation of this theory exists yet.

If BMW expands the use of yellow lights to all future M models, it would mark a noticeable stylistic change for the brand's sports cars from 2026 onward.
