Xiaomi YU7 GT unveiled as a high-performance electric SUV with over 1000 hp, 300 km/h top speed, and a Nürburgring record. Priced around $58,700, it targets elite buyers.

Xiaomi is getting buyers ready for the fact that the YU7 GT won't come cheap. A day before the premiere, company CEO Lei Jun said the new electric SUV would be a bit expensive and aimed at the elite of the era—top managers, tech entrepreneurs, and well-off fans of fast driving.

The official unveiling in China is set for May 21. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but the expected benchmark is around 400,000 yuan, which translates to roughly $58,700 or 4.25 million rubles. For context, the standard YU7 started at 253,500 yuan, about 2.69 million rubles.

The tech explains the price gap. The YU7 GT packs over 1,000 hp, a top speed of 300 km/h, and a range of 705 km on the CLTC cycle. At its heart is a new V8s EVO motor that revs to 28,000 rpm. Xiaomi recently made a strong case: the YU7 GT lapped the Nürburgring in 7:34.931, beating the Audi RS Q8.

The crossover is now on static display at 268 Xiaomi showrooms across 82 Chinese cities. For the brand, this is a step above the mass segment. After strong sales of its EVs, Xiaomi aims to prove it can build not only impressive electric cars at good prices but also expensive performance models.
