The facelifted Geely EX2 Xingyuan electric hatchback debuts May 28 with increased range up to 460 km, new Galaxy badges, and upgraded LFP batteries. A top-selling EV in China gets better.

Geely is preparing an update for the EX2 Xingyuan, China's best-selling car. The facelifted electric hatchback will debut on May 28, with the main change being an increased range.

Currently, the Geely EX2 costs between 68,800 and 87,800 yuan in China, roughly $10,100 to $12,900. New prices have not been announced yet. After the update, the model will get Galaxy badges, new aerodynamic wheel cover options, and upgraded LFP batteries. The base version with a 35 kWh battery can travel up to 360 km on the CLTC cycle, while the top version with a 47 kWh battery can go up to 460 km.

According to CarNewsChina, the powertrains will remain the same. Lower trims use a rear electric motor with 58 kW (78 hp), while higher trims get an 85 kW (114 hp) motor. Drive is rear-wheel only. Currently, the EX2 offers fast charging from 30% to 80% in 21 minutes, and this figure might be improved after the facelift.

In terms of size, it's a compact city EV: length 4135 mm, width 1805 mm, height 1570 mm, wheelbase 2650 mm. An important advantage is the liquid cooling for the battery as standard. Many competitors like the BYD Seagull and Wuling Bingo only offer such a system in higher trims or not at all in base versions. Another plus is the independent multilink rear suspension instead of a simpler torsion beam.

The EX2 was launched in 2024 under the Geome brand and is now sold under the Galaxy lineup. In 2025, the model sold 465,775 units, and in April 2026, 34,727 units were delivered in China. For Geely, the facelift isn't just cosmetic; it's needed to maintain momentum. In this segment, buyers are quick to respond to range, price, and practicality. The EX2 currently looks like one of the strongest answers to what an affordable EV should be.
