Toyota updates Avalon and Sienna for China with hybrid tech
At the Guangzhou Auto Show, Toyota unveiled refreshed Avalon and Sienna for China, with premium styling, broader hybrid options and upgraded multimedia systems.
At the Guangzhou Auto Show, Toyota unveiled updated versions of two models central to the Chinese market—the Avalon sedan and the Sienna minivan. Both emphasize a more premium exterior, a broader hybrid lineup, and modernized multimedia systems.
The Avalon keeps its signature full-size executive-sedan character but now looks more assertive: a large grille, slimmer lighting, and pronounced chrome lines create the impression of a wider, weightier front end.

Inside, it sticks to Toyota’s familiar comfort formula with a large central screen and a refreshed instrument panel. The model still targets buyers who want the mix of presence and the efficiency of a hybrid powertrain, and the cabin tech feels like a tidy step forward rather than a distraction.

The updated Sienna keeps its familiar silhouette but gains a more dynamic front end and richer cabin equipment. The second row comes with comfortable captain’s chairs, and the infotainment is both more contemporary and quicker. The hybrid system remains the model’s key trait—an evolution that suits its practical brief without trying to reinvent it.
