General Motors' Brazilian division has informed Chevrolet dealerships that a new Onix Eco will join the lineup in 2027.
This new version will serve as the base trim for the 2027 Onix and will run exclusively on ethanol, allowing it to take advantage of tax incentives in Brazil. According to company sources, the ethanol-only Eco variant will be available in both five-door hatchback and sedan body styles.
Based on the official catalog sent to dealers, the 2027 Onix Eco will come standard with a 1.0-liter turbocharged I3 engine producing 115 hp and 165 Nm of torque, tuned to run solely on ethanol—a popular biofuel in Brazil. It will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine does not feature direct injection.
The 2027 Onix Eco will share the same design and similar equipment levels as the entry-level AT Turbo trim. Standard features include six airbags, air conditioning, electric power steering, automatic headlights, keyless entry, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, halogen daytime running lights, and 15-inch steel wheels with covers.
