The reasons behind Mercedes-Benz decisions range from model-refresh cycles and platform transitions to strategic priorities centered on developing next-generation electric architecture. Taken together, the timing looks deliberate.

Mercedes-Benz has limited orders in its online configurator for several models, affecting the A-Class sedan (V177), the B-Class hatchback (W247), the CLA coupe (C118), and the CLA Shooting Brake (X118). In practice, these vehicles can now be purchased only from dealer stock—a clear sign the current iterations are nearing the end of their run.

Production of the electric crossover EQB has ended; it will be replaced by a new electric GLB EQ variant scheduled for official presentation on December 8, 2025. Production of the gasoline-powered GLB (X247) has also stopped. The new gasoline GLB will arrive next spring, approximately March–April 2026. The staggered timeline points to a planned handover, though customers will face a pause until the updated models debut.

The company is also discontinuing the four-door sports car AMG GT (X290). In its place, a new iteration is planned for fall 2026, introduced as a high-performance electric AMG EA with an 800-volt system. The move neatly aligns the performance line with Mercedes-Benz’s next-wave electric focus.
