Ford has recently filed a patent application for an innovative technology that would let future vehicles use removable electrical-outlet modules.

The new development would significantly broaden what owners can do: drivers could pull outlet modules directly from the vehicle’s body and carry them to wherever power is needed to run equipment or devices outside the cabin. In effect, power from the onboard generator or the vehicle’s battery would be available almost anywhere around the car, adding tangible convenience for drivers and passengers.

This approach opens the door to comfortable powering of tools, gadgets, and other electrical gear during outdoor downtime, repair work, or small events set up right next to the vehicle. The idea may be straightforward, but that kind of flexibility often turns an improvised workaround into a task done properly.
