Pininfarina and JAS Motorsport are bringing the first-gen Acura NSX back as the Tensei, a carbon-bodied restomod with a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6, six-speed manual, and an €880,000 starting price. Just 35 will exist, deliveries in 2027.

They just brought the legend back to life — and not in Tokyo, but in Italy. The first-generation Acura NSX is returning to America, only you won't find a Honda factory badge on it. Meet the Tensei — a restomod cooked up by Italy's JAS Motorsport in tandem with Pininfarina. Graham Rahal Performance will handle sales and service in the US, while Pfaff Reserve takes over in Canada.

The Tensei is built on donor NSXs from 1990–1994. Pininfarina dressed them in a brand-new carbon-fiber body while carefully preserving the original's unmistakable silhouette. The car is wider, lower, angrier: a different wheelbase, broader shoulders, flared arches. Inside — a fully reworked cabin with modern materials. Brembo brakes (steel or carbon, your call) and KW DDC dampers — the same ones you'll find under a Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

JAS Motorsport isn't playing dress-up. The Italians have been Honda's official racing partner since 1998 — three decades of developing racing Civics and the NSX-GT3. In the Tensei they promise racing-grade engineering and completely reworked mechanics. And the best news for fans — the original's powertrain philosophy stays untouched. A naturally aspirated V6, only now grown from 3.0 to 3.5 liters thanks to a new crankshaft and rotating assembly. Six-speed manual gearbox. No turbos, no hybrid crutches.

Only 35 cars will be built — one for each year since the original NSX debuted. Assembly happens at the JAS atelier in Arluno, while bespoke commissions run through Pininfarina in Cambiano. The starting price is €880,000, and that's before you go hunt down and buy the donor NSX yourself. The public premiere already happened at Milano Design Week in April, and the first cars will roll out to customers in 2027.
