Toyota Veloz Hybrid EV debuts as a compact 7-seat minivan
Discover the new Toyota Veloz Hybrid EV: a compact 7-seat MPV with 205 mm clearance, 110 hp hybrid drive, EV mode, four trims and launch pricing in Indonesia.
Indonesia has hosted the debut of the new hybrid minivan Toyota Veloz Hybrid EV, a compact model that blends SUV stance with MPV practicality. With a three-row 2-3-2 layout and a generous 205 mm of ground clearance, it promises not only room for the whole crew but also calm progress over less-than-perfect roads.
Developed together with Daihatsu and based on the Avanza, the Veloz is positioned higher in the range. Its footprint stays sensible: 4475 mm long, 1750 mm wide, and 1700 mm tall. Despite the modest dimensions, the cabin is configured to accommodate seven passengers.
The headline change is the hybrid setup. A 1.5-liter gasoline engine is paired with an electric motor and a battery for a combined 110 hp, and in EV mode the vehicle can move on electric power alone. On paper, the configuration favors smooth, efficient city driving over outright pace—exactly where most buyers will want it to shine.
In essence, it signals Toyota’s push toward more attainable 2025 models focused on clean and economical urban mobility. The Veloz Hybrid will be offered in four trims, including the stylized Q Modellista with dark accents and a protective body kit. Until the end of December, the base V grade is being offered at a special price of 2.99 million Indonesian rupiah.
The Veloz Hybrid could become a new reference point for affordable family transport in developing markets. It weaves together efficiency, everyday usability, and a touch of light off-road potential—qualities traditional minivans often overlook. The elevated ride height, in particular, should make speed bumps and patched-up tarmac less of a headache.
