Bestune B70S launches in Germany at €31,995 with 265 hp — €19,750 cheaper than a Cupra Formentor VZ with identical power output.

Nobody expected a Chinese crossover priced at €31,995 to make a European rival look overpriced — but that’s exactly what happened. The Bestune B70S has launched in Germany with a 2.0-liter turbo engine producing 265 hp, and the first thing that jumps out is the price. The current Cupra Formentor VZ with identical output starts at €51,745. The gap is €19,750 — not ten thousand, as it might first appear.

The Chinese crossover sends 340 Nm to the front wheels through an automatic gearbox. Top speed exceeds 200 km/h. The Formentor VZ sounds far more confident here: 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, top speed 245 km/h. Bestune hasn’t revealed comparable figures yet — and that’s a question without an answer. The B70S is bigger than its Spanish rival, though: length around 4,560 mm, width 1,840 mm, height 1,520 mm.

Behind the power tailgate, though, lies a disappointment — just 360 liters of boot space. The Formentor offers up to 450 liters, and the 265 hp version with the 360-degree camera still manages 420 liters. The Bestune’s price does buy plenty, though: a panoramic roof, powered front seats, a 360-degree camera and no fewer than three displays — a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 12.2-inch infotainment screen and a separate 7-inch climate display. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and lane-keep assist are all standard.

But there’s a catch that spoils the picture. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto only work through an additional app — an inconvenience that doesn’t make it into the brochure. Digital DAB radio is missing entirely. All-wheel drive, a hybrid version and any form of electrification are absent from the B70S’s German lineup too. Bestune really is selling 265 hp for significantly less than Cupra. But that’s where the comparison ends — the questions start right after.

The Formentor is faster, roomier and backed by an established dealer network. The B70S answers with price and equipment — leaving the buyer to work out for themselves what service, warranty and resale value are worth on this particular gamble.
