Ford Racing Parts just found a way to remind Mustang GT owners that 480 horsepower under the hood was only the opening act. Four FP800S packages for the S650-generation Ford Mustang GT are now up for order, and all of them cost exactly the same: $18,500, no matter which version you pick.
The heart of the package is a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. It turns the 5.0-liter V8 from a laid-back athlete into a full-blown berserker: up to 810 horsepower and 834 Nm of torque. There's a catch, though — without the active exhaust system, the car loses 10 horses and settles for 800 hp. And running this engine on anything below 91 octane premium fuel simply isn't an option.
Telling a regular Mustang apart from a Whipple-supercharged beast comes down to the finish: black or bronze. Buyers can also choose between the standard suspension or the adaptive MagneRide system. The kit includes upgraded half shafts, retuned suspension, 19-inch wheels, a new grille, graphics, and badging. Most importantly, Ford has officially approved this tuning for road use in the U.S., as long as it meets EPA and CARB requirements. No gray market involved — everything is fully legal.
Tires and installation aren't included in the price — that's an extra line item. But have it fitted at a Ford dealer or a certified specialist, and the package comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty, or roughly 58,000 km. Not every automaker backs an 810-horsepower monster like that.
