Nobody saw this coming — Ford just made white the expensive choice on the 2027 Ford Expedition. Not through a new option or a fancy finish, but by quietly taking a free color away.
Ford has removed the long-standing Oxford White (paint code YZ) from the retail color palette, reserving it exclusively for fleet and government vehicles. Ordinary buyers are now steered toward a three-coat Star White Metallic instead — and it isn’t free. The effective price gap works out to 995 dollars.
This is more than a routine color shuffle. On the 2026 Expedition, Oxford White was offered on Active, Tremor, Platinum, and King Ranch trims with no extra charge. On 2027 order sheets, that same slot now carries a “Fleet Only” label. Star White Metallic, paint code AZ, is available across every retail trim, including the 30th Anniversary package on Platinum — just not for free.
There’s a sharper detail buried in the color chart. Agate Black is now the only universal retail color without an Extra Cost mark. Every other shade either costs more or is locked to specific trims. Don’t want a black Expedition? Budget for it — the configurator doesn’t leave a workaround.
At the same time, Ford added Nocturnal Blue Metallic, Bronze Fire Metallic Tri-Coat, and Blue Ember Metallic to the lineup. That last one is reserved strictly for Platinum trims equipped with the 30th Anniversary package. Space Silver Metallic and Stone Blue Metallic have been dropped entirely.
