Hennessey has reduced its website to a single countdown clock and four words: “We are go for launch.” No silhouette, no spec sheet, not even an official name. The reveal is set for August 3, 2026, and the entire hypercar world is left guessing what hides behind the codename Project Overlord. Calling it a new hypercar or a Venom F5 successor is premature — the company hasn’t confirmed a single detail.
The teaser dropped right after the Venom F5-M debuted. That open-top model got a six-speed manual gearbox, a new carbon-fiber monocoque, and a 6.6-liter Fury V8 making 2,031 horsepower. Only 12 will be built, starting at $2.65 million. Once that run launches, the manual transmission and updated chassis are expected to spread to other F5 variants.
So what exactly is Overlord? A tweaked F5? A one-off from the Maverick division? An aero package chasing a top-speed record? Or something built from scratch? Here’s a clue. Company founder John Hennessey said back in 2024 that Overlord was designed to sit side by side with the F5 — both mid-engined and extreme, but delivering their power in completely different ways. In other words, this isn’t an upgrade to the existing lineup; it’s its own story. The official catalog still lists only the F5 Coupe, Roadster, Revolution, and F5-M, with total family production capped at 99 cars — more than 40 already delivered to customers.
Power, gearbox, body style, production numbers, and price for Project Overlord remain a mystery. And nothing suggests Hennessey has abandoned its goal of pushing the Venom F5 past 300 mph — that’s 483 km/h. The answers land August 3 at 8:00 a.m. Texas time, when we’ll finally know whether the company is expanding its current lineup or opening an entirely new chapter of its hypercar program.
