Alfa Romeo decided a regular Junior wasn’t enough for Australia — so it rolled out the limited-edition Sport Speciale. The price is AU$51,990 before on-road costs, or roughly US$33,800. And this isn’t just another trim level: it slots exactly between the hybrid Junior Ibrida and the fully electric Elettrica, as if built for buyers who can’t quite decide.
Outside, the Sport Speciale is hard to miss: 18-inch “Fori” wheels, a gloss-black body kit, ice-grey accents and badging found on no other Junior variant. The panoramic roof comes standard here — owners of the regular Junior still have to pay extra for it.
The cabin gets Alcantara and faux-leather upholstery, contrast stitching and a decorative dashboard trim. A small detail? Not quite: the driver’s seat now gets power adjustment and a massage function — a rare feature for a compact crossover in this class.
Under the hood, though, nothing has changed — and that seems to be exactly the point. The crossover keeps its 1.2-litre turbo engine, 48-volt mild-hybrid system and six-speed dual-clutch automatic. Output is 145 hp and 230 Nm of torque. There’s no fully electric Sport Speciale, either — anyone wanting a special edition without the petrol will have to wait for Alfa Romeo’s next move.
