Japan's TEIN has proven once again that kei cars deserve real suspension tuning too. The company has started selling its adjustable Flex Z coilover kit for the B44A-generation Nissan Roox kei car. The kit fits front-wheel-drive versions with the naturally aspirated 660cc engine, built between March 2020 and August 2025. The recommended price is 151,800 yen (about $1,020) including Japanese tax.
In its base setup, the Roox's front end drops 40mm and the rear drops 35mm. And it's not just about the numbers: ride height is adjusted via the strut's total length, so the change in ground clearance should have less impact on the shock absorbers' working stroke. The kit uses a twin-tube design, with rebound and compression damping adjustable simultaneously across 16 settings.
Both the front and rear factory mounts stay in place. According to TEIN, the new springs and damper settings should cut body roll and sharpen the car's responses — without turning city driving into a bone-rattling ordeal. There's a catch, though: hooking up the electronic EDFC system to adjust stiffness from inside the cabin simply isn't possible on the Roox.
Dropping 35-40mm changes more than just the look — it changes the rules of the game. Owners will need to pick their line more carefully on steep driveway ramps and choose wheels with care: TEIN warns that the wrong offset or tire size can cause parts of the car to make contact. The warranty runs three years or 60,000km, whichever comes first, but only in Japan and only after product registration.
Nissan Armada and Murano previously picked up J.D. Power APEAL 2026 awards in their respective classes.
