Nobody expected to be peering into the Lamborghini Urus's software — yet here we are. Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has registered a recall covering 2,146 crossovers across three variants — ABA-ZLDHU, 7BA-ZLDHU, and 7BA-ZLDWN — imported into the country between September 17, 2018, and August 21, 2025. Those are import dates, not model years, so don't mix them up.
The trouble lives inside the driver-assist control unit. A software flaw means the video feed from the cameras can suddenly cut out: the central screen goes dark, taking the Top View system and the direct left/right blind-spot views with it. Japanese regulators classified the fault bluntly — a failure to meet safety standards.
The good news: nothing physical needs replacing. Not the cameras, not the control unit. All 2,146 owners will simply get a software update flashed to the corrected version — and that's the whole fix.
According to the official recall filing, the campaign was registered by Volkswagen Group Japan under notice number 外-4214, with the campaign start date set at July 23, 2026. The issue came to light through information from Lamborghini's head office in Italy. Owners will be notified directly — by mail, phone, and email — with details also posted on the brand's website, while service centers receive an industry bulletin. As of the filing, zero incidents and zero related accidents had been reported.
Still, this isn't something to shrug off. A screen going dark mid-maneuver next to a curb, a wall, or another car is exactly the kind of moment where seconds matter. If the cameras drop out mid-parking, the safer move is to stop and only continue once the space around the car has been checked with mirrors and a direct look.
