Dacia Striker showed up on the banks of the Thames — but Dacia isn't in a hurry to sell it. The new car made its first appearance for the British public on 23–24 July at the City Escape event, yet the brand's own website still modestly tags it as “coming soon.” UK orders won't open until early 2027 — and that wait might turn out to be more interesting than the launch party itself.
Because London isn't really the story here. Dacia is stepping outside its usual territory of budget hatchbacks and crossovers with a 4.62-metre-long C-segment model. At 1.53 metres tall, it sits lower than a typical SUV. The ground clearance tells a different story, though — 190mm on front-wheel-drive versions and 200mm on the all-wheel-drive variant. In shape, it's a high-riding estate with crossover attitude.
The lineup includes a 155bhp hybrid powertrain and a Hybrid 150 4x4 system with an electric motor driving the rear axle. Other European markets will also get a petrol-LPG mild hybrid-G 140 version. The boot is rated at around 600 litres, and the equipment list includes a powered tailgate, panoramic roof and up to nine YouClip mounting points.
Dacia has named a European starting price — under €25,000, roughly $28,400. The UK price list, meanwhile, is still under wraps. For comparison, the Bigster starts at £25,215 in Britain. So where the two models will actually land next to each other in the lineup remains an open question.
The Striker is meant to help Dacia lift its C-segment share of its own sales from 20% to 33%. The next real test comes with the UK price list. Will the new estate stay cheaper than the Bigster, or will it climb higher on the strength of its hybrid drivetrain and kit? We'll find out soon enough.
