Kia has stopped hiding the obvious: a camouflaged PV7 has been spotted driving on public roads in South Korea, and that means one thing — the project has moved from show-floor concept to real-world testing. The commercial launch of the large electric van is scheduled for 2027, and an even taller sibling, the PV9, will join it in 2029. Kia is building an entire lineup, and it clearly has no plans to stop.
In terms of size, the PV7 concept doesn't just edge out the production PV5 — it beats it on nearly every front. Length comes in at 5,270 mm, width at 2,065 mm, height at 2,120 mm, and the wheelbase at 3,390 mm. For comparison, the passenger PV5 measures 1,895 mm in width and rides on a 2,995 mm wheelbase. The gap is significant: the PV7 is 575 mm longer, 170 mm wider, and its wheelbase stretches 395 mm further. Kia, however, is upfront about one thing: concept specs may differ from the final production numbers — nothing is set in stone yet.
Here's the unexpected twist: Kia itself has scaled back its own ambitions. Back in 2025, the company was aiming to sell 250,000 PBV vehicles a year by 2030. In April 2026, that target was cut to 232,000 — a drop of 18,000 units. The goals got a bit more modest, but the three-step lineup plan stayed intact: the PV5 has been on sale since 2025, the PV7 joins in 2027, and the PV9 rounds out the family in 2029. And there's more — the lineup is promised to offer over 40 body styles and conversion options.
On the test vehicle, journalists spotted charging flaps — one at the front and one on the rear right flank. Does that mean two charging ports? Not confirmed yet. Also unproven: whether the PV7 will run Kia's Pleos Connect system. Kia has promised that platform for its first true SDV model, but it hasn't named the van as one of the candidates.
The next checkpoint is the official production reveal. That's when final dimensions, battery capacity, range, charging speed, and the full body-style lineup will be confirmed. For now, none of those numbers have been released for the production PV7.
