MG did not wait for German buyers to warm to electric cars on their own. The Chinese brand with British roots has launched a full-blown price offensive in Germany: 6000 euros off every electric model and 4500 euros off every plug-in hybrid. No forms, no income statements, no waiting lists. The campaign runs from 1 July to 30 September 2026.
The entire current line-up is in: the MG4 EV and MG4 EV Urban hatchbacks, the MGS5 EV and MGS6 EV crossovers, the MG Cyberster roadster, plus the MG HS PHEV and MGS9 PHEV hybrids. The bonus applies to cash purchases, leasing and financing — and, crucially, it is entirely independent of the state subsidy.
And this is where it gets interesting. Germany’s purchase premium for electric cars is back, but not everyone gets it: it targets private buyers on low and middle incomes, depends on household income and covers only cars first registered from 1 January 2026. The payout ranges from 3000 to 6000 euros. The MG bonus, by contrast, goes to absolutely everyone. Anyone who also clears the state criteria stacks one on top of the other — and walks away with up to 12,000 euros off a single car.
The loudest example is the MG4 EV Urban. The city hatchback starts at 24,990 euros, and the manufacturer bonus drives the sticker down to 18,990. Just under 4.4 metres long, a 470-litre boot, a 43 or 54 kWh battery, 325 or 416 kilometres of WLTP range and roughly 30 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%. In Germany that kind of money normally buys a petrol city car.
The MGS5 EV crossover asks 37,990 euros — 31,990 with the bonus. Batteries of 49 and 64 kWh, 170 and 231 hp, up to 480 kilometres of range and a 10 to 80% charge in 24 and 28 minutes respectively. The bigger MGS6 EV comes only with the 77 kWh pack: rear-wheel drive and 180 kW (244 hp), or all-wheel drive and 266 kW (361 hp). It starts at 49,990 euros, so 43,990 after the discount, with 530 kilometres of range for the rear-driven version and 485 for the all-wheel-drive one.
The updated MG4 EV moved up a league after its March facelift: 42,990 euros for the 64 kWh version with 190 hp (452 kilometres), 44,990 for the 77 kWh car with 245 hp (545 kilometres) and 46,990 for the all-wheel-drive XPower with 435 hp. Six thousand euros of bonus bring the entry-level MG4 EV back to 36,990.
The two-seat Cyberster costs 64,990 euros, or 58,990 after the discount, with the strongest versions making up to 510 hp. The hybrids get less: the flagship MGS9 PHEV starts at 40,490 euros with its 4500-euro bonus, and the mid-size MG HS PHEV at 35,490. The conditions are the usual ones: new cars only, orders placed within the campaign window only, participating dealers only and only while stock lasts.
