A new OTA update turns Tahoe and Suburban surround cameras into a built-in recorder, plus a security mode and a cabin-watching trick.

No need to buy a separate dash cam anymore — Chevrolet just turned the cameras you already have into one. According to GM Authority, owners of 2025–2026 Tahoe and Suburban models are starting to receive the OTA update GM 663.10, which switches on three features at once: Surround Vision Recorder, Security Recording, and Cabin Glance.

The headline feature is simple, and surprisingly generous: the standard surround-view cameras become something close to a built-in dash cam. Footage saves to the owner’s own USB drive in two-hour loops, with each trip recorded as a separate clip. Once parked, drivers can review the footage right on the center display or pull a specific camera’s recording off the drive.

Here’s where it gets interesting. When the factory alarm triggers, Security Recording automatically switches on the available exterior cameras and the cabin camera for 30 seconds. That’s not much time, but it’s often enough to piece together what happened during a break-in attempt, vandalism, or another incident. Chevrolet does note that any use of the footage still has to comply with local laws.

Cabin Glance works differently, and it has nothing to do with recording. A camera in the headliner shows the second and third rows on the display, so the driver can quickly check on passengers or a pet. Chevrolet is careful to point out that this mode never saves an image.

The system does come with real limits. Recording happens without sound, a compatible USB drive is required, and GM says it doesn’t access any of the saved footage itself. The same update is also meant to improve the digital instrument cluster and backup camera responsiveness, along with notification and warning-alert stability.

Chevrolet recently confirmed that production of the 2026 Trax could stretch to nearly 18 months.
