Nearly 2,000 km on a single tank — without a single charge. The Nissan Qashqai with e-POWER has set an official Guinness World Record, covering 1,980 km without refueling or plugging in. The run took place in Colombia, heading from Bogotá toward the Caribbean coast. The result was logged in the category for non-plug-in electric SUVs with a range extender.
The nearly 2,000 km figure sits well above the usual official numbers. For the third-generation European Qashqai e-POWER, Nissan claims up to 795 miles, or roughly 1,280 km, on a single tank, with consumption as low as 4.3 l/100 km under the WLTP cycle. The record run turned out to be about 700 km — or 55% — longer than that. Not just a margin. A big one.
That doesn't mean every owner can pull off the same result. Nissan hasn't disclosed the average speed, the actual fuel consumption, the starting battery charge, or a detailed route profile. The company separately warns that real-world range depends on weather, traffic, vehicle load, and driving style.
e-POWER differs from a regular hybrid in that only the electric motor turns the Qashqai's wheels. The gasoline engine has no mechanical link to them and works purely as a generator — which means there's never any need to plug the car in. In the third generation, the system gained a combined 5-in-1 module and a purpose-built engine for generating electricity.
For now, the record matters mainly as a demonstration of what the technology can do — not as a promise of nearly 2,000 km in everyday driving.
