Your car can now tell you stories — literally. Autio has launched its embedded app directly inside select Ford and Lincoln vehicles in the U.S., and this isn't another app to download to your phone — it's built straight into the infotainment system. The service is available on the Ford Explorer and Expedition, Lincoln Aviator and Navigator from the 2025 model year onward, along with the Lincoln Nautilus starting with the 2024 model year.
It works like something out of a road-trip fantasy: the app knows exactly where the car is and surfaces nearby points of interest right on the screen. Drive past a city, a national park, a landmark, or a historic site, and a story starts playing on its own. Parked somewhere? You can pick a recording manually instead. No phone required, no separate login — everything is already tied to the driver's profile.
And the scale of the catalog is genuinely impressive: over 12,000 audio stories, some narrated by Kevin Costner himself. All of it downloads through the Google Play Store straight into the Ford and Lincoln Digital Experience system. Tarantas News previously reported on Ford's plans to make its vehicles smarter and expand its in-house multimedia platform — this looks like the start of that promise taking shape.
But it's not free for everyone: Autio requires an active Premium Connectivity or Connectivity Package subscription to work. The announcement only covers the U.S. market for now, and there's no word yet on when — or whether — the service will reach other countries.
