MBUX 3.3 OTA adds Dolby Atmos, IMAX Enhanced and a smarter calendar
Mercedes-Benz pushes an MBUX 3.3 OTA update to 700,000 cars, adding Dolby Atmos, IMAX Enhanced, a new Calendar app, better voice assistant and in-car games.
Mercedes-Benz is rolling out a major over-the-air update to MBUX 3.3, reaching more than 700,000 vehicles worldwide. The emphasis is squarely on entertainment and everyday ease of use. The system adds Dolby Atmos support for content in Amazon Music, Audible, and Tidal, as well as IMAX Enhanced playback with DTS:X surround for Sony Pictures’ RIDEVU service (for select titles). It’s a timely shift that leans into how people actually use their cars today.
The update targets models running the third generation of MBUX, including the GLC, C-Class, CLE, and E-Class. With spatial audio enabled, playback takes on a more stage-like presence, bringing extra depth, clarity, and a sense of space—most noticeable on tracks and audiobooks mastered for these formats.
The second headline change is the MBUX Calendar app, which replaces the previous In-Car Calendar. It uses a single sign-in and links the calendar with Notes and Meetings, so planning becomes end-to-end right inside the car’s interface. A practical touch: the system can automatically plot a route to the next appointment, and Microsoft Teams calls can be launched directly from the app.
The voice assistant also gets broader skills: drivers can ask for a short daily briefing and quick summaries. For pauses on the road, Mercedes adds Gamepack—a bundle of retro-style mini-games designed for stops and waiting.
