Just yesterday, the Nissan NX7 was little more than a name behind a teaser image. Today, everything changed: China's certification database has published an almost complete technical dossier for Dongfeng Nissan's new PHEV crossover. And the pace is striking — size, powertrain and battery details surfaced just two days after that first mysterious silhouette.
The NX7 measures 4,785 mm long with a 2,815 mm wheelbase — 85 mm shorter than the bigger NX8, with 102 mm less between the axles. Width comes in at 1,920 or 1,932 mm, height at 1,660 or 1,665 mm depending on trim. Curb weight sits at 1,915–2,000 kg, and top speed is capped at 180 km/h.
Under the hood sits a 1.5-liter gas engine making around 99 hp, while the drive motor delivers a far more serious 231 hp. The battery is a lithium iron phosphate pack with a 40.9 kWh capacity, using cells from the CATL-FAW joint venture. Filing data points to an all-electric range of 220–225 km under CLTC testing — a figure the automaker hasn't officially confirmed yet, but one that's already slipped through the paperwork.
The options list reads like a bid for flagship tech status in this class: roof-mounted LiDAR, extra cameras, a panoramic sunroof and roof rails. Dongfeng Nissan is also promising urban NOA — a driver-assistance system for navigating city routes.
NX7 pricing is still under wraps. But logic points one way: below the NX8. The bigger crossover officially costs 159,900–209,900 yuan, with a limited-time starting price of 149,900 yuan. If the NX7 follows the same playbook, rivals in the Chinese market have something to worry about.
Whether the NX7 makes it beyond China remains an open question. Back in April, Dongfeng Nissan named N7, NX8 and Frontier Pro among its export candidates. The NX7 wasn't on that list. Whether that changes now is something we'll find out later.
