Nobody expected Dacia's budget crossover to start speaking fluent hybrid — but here it is. The Sandero Stepway has just picked up a full hybrid drivetrain on the Dutch market. The Hybrid 155 version is already live on the brand's official site, with prices starting at €25,900 for the Expression trim. Want more kit? The Extreme trim runs €27,300, while the range-topping Limited Edition costs €28,150.
Under the hood sits more than just an engine — it's a full system. A naturally aspirated 1.8-liter petrol engine with 109 hp works alongside a 50 hp electric motor, a starter-generator, and a 1.4 kWh battery. Combined output: 155 horsepower, and there's no clutch involved — just a multi-mode automatic transmission.
Fuel consumption is claimed at a tiny 4.4 l/100 km. And here's the interesting part: according to Dacia, the car can run on electric power alone up to 80% of the time in city driving, and it always pulls away in electric mode. 0-100 km/h takes 8.1 seconds. Not bad for a budget car, right?
For now, Hybrid 155 in the Netherlands is reserved for the Sandero Stepway — the regular Sandero misses out. Tarantas News previously reported that in Italy, the same Stepway version costs considerably less, starting at €20,800.
